FAQs
FAQs
What should I look for when buying a Cordless Tool?

Some cordless tools have specific uses, or simply don’t fit neatly into conventional product groups but that doesn’t mean you can’t buy them from ToolStore UK! From Grease Guns to Table Saws and everything in between, we are here to help.

When choosing a specialist tool, be sure to check the product specifications so you can be certain your purchase will perform as you need it to. Remember that, if you have any questions, we’re only too happy to answer any questions before you hit the “Buy Now” button. Just get in touch!

Which is better: brushless or brushed tools?

Brushed motors use carbon brushes to transfer power from the fixed part of the motor to the rotor. This creates a reliable and relatively inexpensive motor, but brushed motors d require regular maintenance, in order to either clean the brushes or replace them as they wear out. A brushless motor, by contrast, uses a magnet mounted on the rotor to generate the power and electrical switching to perform the function carried out by the brushes. The additional complexity of the motor’s working means that brushless motors are usually more expensive than brushed.

Which voltage should I choose?

As a rule, there won’t be a choice of voltages for specific machine types we have listed under ‘Other Cordless’ but the category does include products which run at different power levels, from 10.8v through to 54v.

"Brilliant bit of kit, usual solid makita quality. Only Downside is you have to keep your finger on the trigger until it turns itself off at the required pressure, but a small Downside to an otherwise brilliant pump. "

"Brilliant! dead easy to use and comes with several adaptors to serve multiple uses/fittings. Much easier to use than a 12v plug in electric pump. Just set the desired pressure and the pump achieved it quickly and easily. fairly quiet in use and auto-off is a very useful feature too. Great service and quick delivery from Toolstore as always. Can't recommend the pump or TS enough."

"Impressive bit of kit, read loads of reviews before buying and must say very happy. Well engineered, very portable and lightweight and really does the job well. I have used this to inflate wheelbarrow tyres, car tyres and ride-on mower tyres and the drain on 4 or 5 amp LXT batteries is barely noticeable. Read the User Manual and be fair to this little fella by stopping after inflating for ten minutes and giving it a rest to cool the compressor. "
