The Black & Decker ASI400 is a compact, portable air compressor which is powered from a vehicle's 12v (cigarette lighter) socket. Supplying up to 11 Bar of pressure, it is suitable for applications such as inflating car and bike tyres, footballs, basketballs, beach mats, air beds and other common inflatables. Equipped with a digital display for visual readout of the inflation pressure, an auto-off system, and a selection of 3 adaptors for connection to a variety of fittings, the ASI400 makes a perfect travelling companion for holidays and camping trips as well as a useful tool for quick and easy inflating tasks around the home and garden.

Which is better: brushless or brushed tools?

Brushed motors use carbon brushes to transfer power from the fixed part of the motor to the rotor. This creates a reliable and relatively inexpensive motor, but brushed motors d require regular maintenance, in order to either clean the brushes or replace them as they wear out. A brushless motor, by contrast, uses a magnet mounted on the rotor to generate the power and electrical switching to perform the function carried out by the brushes. The additional complexity of the motor’s working means that brushless motors are usually more expensive than brushed.

Which voltage should I choose?

As a rule, there won’t be a choice of voltages for specific machine types we have listed under ‘Other Cordless’ but the category does include products which run at different power levels, from 10.8v through to 54v.
