Product Overview

Built for professional use, the STANLEY FATMAX Auto-Lock 8M/26 (32mm wide) Tape Measure, with 32mm blade width for clear and legible markings, is Class II accurate, providing a reassuring +/-0.5mm error tolerance at 1m. Its durable polyester film blade coating provides up to 10 times more resistance to abrasion than a standard lacquered blade, with an additional BladeArmor coating reinforcing the first 8cm the section most vulnerable to wear. Its TRU-ZERO hook ensures precise inner and outer measurements, moving back and forth along the securing rivets to account for the hook thickness. Each tape features an impressive reach of 4.2m to help you measure confidently from a distance, even when working alone. This versatile tape comes complete with a multi-catch hook, detachable oversized multi-catch hook and removable magnetic hook, and features an Auto-Lock mechanism to automatically hold the blade secure, preventing uncontrolled retraction.

What should I look for when buying a Tape Measure?

The first thing to consider is the size of the Tape Measure. That doesn’t just mean the length of the tape – although that is important, of course – it can also mean the width of the blade and the dimensions of the case.

To ensure maximum durability, you might want to look for impact-resistant casing and the hook at the end of the blade is also worth think about as the flexibility provided by the hook can affect the accuracy of your measurements.

In terms of accuracy, check whether the Tape Measure has a Class Rating. Most professionals can be confident with Class II Tape Measures but for work which requires maximum precision, Class I tapes provide accuracy to within ±1.1mm.
