With an impressive maximum torque of 33 Nm, this drill makes light work of wood and metal and, at just 1.3 kg, it's easy to move around. A comfortable rubber-coated grip and powerful fan-cooled motor make the DCD740N easy to use over longer periods, while an electric brake prevents overdriving. A 10 mm keyless chuck makes fitting drill bits simple, and a handy LED light brightens up darker areas.

This DeWalt Cordless Power Tool is compatible with XR Li-ion batteries and comes complete with an automatic spindle lock. It is supplied Body Only and doesn't come with a battery and charger.

What should I look for when buying a Cordless Angle Drill?

Angle Drills are the go-to tool when you need to get into a tight space and a traditional drill is just too big for the job. An Angle Drill has a short driving section and long handle with the screw head set at 90 degrees to the handle.
Think about the maximum drilling capacity each drill is capable of, as this effects how efficiently you can work.
The No Load Speed can give you an indication of how powerful the tool is, which can be an important consideration when working continuously with a single machine. Another thing to consider is whether you want a tool with a keyless chuck to speed up bit changes.

Which is better: brushless or brushed tools?

Brushed motors use carbon brushes to transfer power from the fixed part of the motor to the rotor. This creates a reliable and relatively inexpensive motor, but brushed motors do require regular maintenance, in order to either clean the brushes or replace them as they wear out. A brushless motor, by contrast, uses a magnet mounted on the rotor to generate the power and electrical switching to perform the function carried out by the brushes. The additional complexity of the motor’s working means that brushless motors are usually more expensive than brushed.
However, eliminating the brushes also eliminates internal friction and maintenance, meaning that brushless motors offer both increased power and a longer working life. Brushless motors also generate less heat and noise and so, on balance, are considered superior to brushed motors.

Which voltage should I choose?

Our range of Cordless Angle Drills starts with 12v machines, but the increased power and relative affordability of 18v tools means this has become the industry standard, particularly as the 18v machines offer much more power without a huge increase in tool size.
