What should I look for when buying a Hex Key Set?

Hex Keys – also known as Allen Keys – are incredibly helpful tools used to tighten and loosen hexagonal bolts and similar fasteners. They’re so useful that you’ve probably got a few already that were supplied with flat-pack furniture, or a bicycle, or something similar. However, the quality of these ‘freebies’ can be variable, to say the least, so a Hex Key Set might be something you need in your toolkit.

Hex Key Sets usually include keys in a range of sizes, with a consistent style of handle. Not all Hex Keys look the same; some have T-shaped handles, some have ball-shaped ends which offer greater flexibility in terms of where you can stand while working. Some are L-shaped, others are straight.

It’s also worth remembering that Hex Key Sets are sold in both Imperial and Metric sizes; make sure you get one you can work with.
