The DeWalt DCS377NT is an 18v XR brushless Compact Bandsaw body only unit in a TSTAK tough case. The powerful brushless motor delivers the higher power required for heavy load applications. The large rubber overmould gripping area allows for additional grip and increased control in application even in a gloved hand. The saw has been optimised for one handed use, thanks to its lightweight and evenly balanced design cutting overhead in existing installations and tight spaces is no issue. The machine features a variable speed dial with a range of 150-380 SFPM allowing you to tailor the speed depending on the application.

Which is better: brushless or brushed tools?

Brushed motors use carbon brushes to transfer power from the fixed part of the motor to the rotor. This creates a reliable and relatively inexpensive motor, but brushed motors d require regular maintenance, in order to either clean the brushes or replace them as they wear out. A brushless motor, by contrast, uses a magnet mounted on the rotor to generate the power and electrical switching to perform the function carried out by the brushes. The additional complexity of the motor’s working means that brushless motors are usually more expensive than brushed.

Which voltage should I choose?

As a rule, there won’t be a choice of voltages for specific machine types we have listed under ‘Other Cordless’ but the category does include products which run at different power levels, from 10.8v through to 54v.
