What should I look for when buying Jigsaw Blades?

First, ensure that the blade(s) you’re thinking about buying are suitable for the kind of material you’re cutting. Some are designed specifically for working with wood and others for cutting metal. Then you have ‘all-rounder’ blades which can get through various different material types.

You may wish to check the material used to make the blade(s). ToolStore UK offers blades made from High Carbon Steel, High-Speed Steel, Bi-Metal and Carbide. Each has its own properties and is best suited to specific jobs.

There are also different types of tooth; blades with milled teeth are less finely sharpened than blades with ground teeth. Milled blades will make fast but rougher cuts. Ground teeth have been filed to create a sharp edge, so are suited to working with softer materials.

The way the teeth are arranged will also influence how the blade cuts; side-set teeth will produce fast cuts, while straight set or wavy set teeth are ideal for straight cuts.
