Where do I find my Makita serial number?

The main label on the tool’s body shows details of the model number, serial number and year of manufacture.

Where are Makita tools made?

Makita is a Japanese manufacturer of power tools, based in Anjō, Japan. There are nine Makita manufacturing plants across the globe. Makita is Britain’s number 1 professional power tool manufacturer with the Telford, Shropshire factory building around 1.1 million tools per year! 30% of these tools service the customer base here within the UK, while the other 70% of tools are exported to mostly Europe and then the rest of the world.

Why do some Makita tools look white, black and orange?

You may have seen some Makita tools in different colours other than the distinguishable blue. Makita’s white tools represent their ‘compact’ line, which have been phased out. While their batteries tend to be smaller, they may not have as high torque or blade speed etc. Their newer ‘sub-compact’ range, with the most compact and lightest weight tools in the category, come in black to distinguish them from similarly sized Makita 12-volt tools. Orange (or red, as they’re sometimes described) represent Makita’s MT SERIES, ideal for DIYers, apprentices and trade users, who don’t need all the features of a high-end professional machine, just a robust and reliable tool to get the job done.

How to use my Makita tool?

For guidance and advice on how to use your Makita product please refer to your instruction manual. You can also check out our ToolStoreUK YouTube channel where we review products on the market.

Which Makita drill should I buy?

With so many types of drill available, it is a good idea to think about what you will be using your Makita drill for. What Makita drill is best, or which drill you should buy, will depend on what you’re looking for and how you will be using it. Will you be drilling into heavy duty materials like stone and masonry or lighter materials like wood? Do you need a basic drill for everyday tasks around the house, or something more heavy-duty for bigger projects? If you need to be mobile while you work, you may want to consider going for a cordless drill, rather than a corded version that requires being plugged in. You will also want to think about the size and weight of the drill. A lighter drill will be easier and more comfortable to handle. In , there is so much choice and Makita manufacture a wide variety of drills, including combi drills, drill drivers, diamond core drills, hammer drills, SDS drills and angle drills.

How do I change a Makita drill bit?

Remove the power source and use your hands to release the drill bit. Select the drill bit you want to use. Gently close the chuck around the new drill bit. For a keyed chuck, locate the three holes at the base of the drill head, spaced evenly around the neck, and insert the alignment pin of the chuck key into one of the three holes. The chuck key should be used in each of the 3 holes to correctly tighten the chuck and lock the drill bit into place. Turn the chuck key anti-clockwise to release the drill bit and then clockwise to lock the new drill bit into place.

Are Makita drills waterproof?

Some Makita tools are splash proof but not all of them. All Makita products will specify their individual capabilities in the user manual and occasionally on the box itself.
