Tune into Summer

Whistle while you work – or prefer this?

The great tradition of whistling is apparently being kept alive on Britain’s building sites, but if you prefer to listen to the radio, ToolStore UK has a shockingly good offer that’s music to your ears.

ToolStore UK has just made the Makita DMR104 Jobsite DAB radio now available for a super-low £72.00 which is a massive reduction on the recommended retail price of £261.60 - definitely something to sing about.

This soundbox offers a new design that features a silver front control panel as well as newly designed elastomer bumpers to help reduce wear and tear from daily life on site.

And while it makes the perfect companion on a sunny day, it's no fair-weather friend: the shower- proof specification withstands up to five minutes of exposure to rain.

Power comes from two potential sources: you can choose either AC or fit Makita batteries. And despite its compact size, this is a two-speaker format radio for stereo sound. When listening to old-school FM, there’s a flexible aerial – and when not, you can detach it and store it inside the battery cover. This nifty feature sidesteps the inevitable bashed antenna risk that comes with everyday long-term use.

But that’s not all. The Makita DMR104 is also equipped with a micro USB post for any future software upgrades and, of course, has an easy-to-use digital tuner, while the soft-grip carry handle swivels 90 degrees to make sure you stay tuned as you move around the site.

Weighing in at 4.0kg without batteries, the unit has also been commended in reviews for its easy-to-read digital tuner with LCD display and AUX-IN jack for connecting to external audio source (connecting cable is not included).

With a frequency range for FM of 87.5 - 108 Mhz and for DAB of Band III 5A – 13F, speakers 2x76mmØ (8O) and a practical output of 7.2v 0.5W x 2, 9.6v 1.0W x 2, 10.8v 1.2W x 2, 12v 1.5W x 2, 14.4v 2.2W x 2 and18v 3.5W x 2 it’s certainly a versatile piece of kit. And runtimes are great too, being approximately: (1.0Ah) 4.5 hrs, (1.3Ah) 6.5 hrs, (2.0Ah) 10 hrs, (2.5Ah) 14.5 hrs and (3.0Ah) 17 hrs.
