Can you take the pressure?

Stand back: Makita has boosted its pressure washer range

Just in time for the season when the world suddenly wants its patio sorted, Makita has added more muscle to its range of pressure washers. And as essential kit for landscaping, professional gardening and finishing building projects, they look primed for action.

Powered by 240v motors, both are in the 100 to 140 bar range and are lightweight designs that promise low noise levels – a crucial factor for anyone covering significant areas of stone, concrete, timber and decking.

The new Makita HW1200 model, (priced at £246.67 inc VAT) has a regular operating pressure of 100 bar with a maximum pressure capacity of 120 bar, and a maximum delivery rate of 420 litres per hour, making it a powerful tool for deep cleaning.

Is there a more powerful Makita pressure washer model?

Should you want even more wallop, the Makita HW1300, (at £279.48 inc VAT) offers two electrical pressure settings, boasting regular operating pressure settings of 110 bar on Hi and 80 bar on Lo. Against its smaller brother, the 1300 produces a 450 litre per hour flow rate (that’s 30 litres more per hour) and has a maximum operating pressure of 130 bar. Delivery is controlled by a front-mounted rotary switch.

Both of these splendid units are powered by series motors for performance and reliability and come supplied with a 10-metre delivery hose and pressure-adjustable spray lance. The HW1300 also has an integrated hose reel.

And there’s more. They also feature a self-priming pump operation, which means that they can be used with water supplied from a tank, or water butt, simply by immersing a self-suction supply hose (available separately) into the water source. This means that for awkward jobs and locations where you can’t access mains water, you can deliver the job regardless. A traditional mains water hose supply connection is conveniently found at the front of each unit.

Whichever you decide is best for your business, these lightweight washers are quiet in operation, double insulated for safety, come complete with a convenient five-metre power cord and can be used with water at up to 40°C.

So no more excuses for turning down that patio job?
